Around Place Wilson and Rue Pertinax, Rue Assalit and Rue Gubernatis, the neighbourhood forms the link between the shopping centre around Jean-Médecin and the slopes of Carabacel. The buildings are classic Niçois, 1900-1930, denser and plainer than in the neighbouring Carré d'Or: four to six storeys, stone staircases, narrow courtyards, ground floors occupied by local shops, wine merchants and small brasseries.
The square itself has been redone, with its garden and play area enlarged, and it has once again become the heart of a tight-knit neighbourhood life. You're ten minutes' walk from the station, Place Masséna and the green walkway, without the tourist pressure of the seafront. It's the compromise many buyers are after: the centre, on foot, for less.

In Wilson, you're buying the location more than the building, so the building needs a second look: common areas, façade, roof. A well-kept flat in a sound building sells here without difficulty; the opposite gets negotiated down.
