Libération developed between 1880 and 1945 as a resort quarter around Avenue Malausséna and what is now Place du Général-de-Gaulle, and extends towards Avenue Borriglione and the Gare du Sud. The buildings are a mixed bag, and that's its strength: handsome bourgeois buildings at gentler prices than in the Carré d'Or, plainer Niçois blocks, a few villas on the edge of Cimiez. Everything is organised around the daily market, one of the largest in Nice, drawing people from across the city.
The old Gare du Sud, long abandoned, became a food hall in 2019; the tramway stops at the foot of the market; the neighbourhood has kept its accent and gained cafés. It now draws young households after a real neighbourhood life, five minutes by tram from Nice-Ville station.

Libération is the neighbourhood where buyers come looking for neighbourhood life, and they want a balcony or a terrace to enjoy it. Outdoor space, even a small one, changes the time it takes to sell here more than an extra ten square metres does.
