Riquier was once a suburb of kitchen gardens and workshops, built up when Nice's port began to thrive in the 18th century. The buildings that dominate today date from the 1920s and 1930s: four- to six-storey Niçois blocks, ochre or beige façades, running balconies, with a few more ambitious ensembles such as the Palais de l'Esplanade. The neighbourhood is organised around Place Max-Barel, Boulevard Risso and Rue Arson, and runs up against Nice-Riquier station to the north-east.
This is a neighbourhood that lives at street level: bakeries, greengrocers, corner cafés, schools within walking distance. Long very built-up and busy with traffic, it is changing with the green walkway extended from the Paillon and the gradual return of shops to the ground floors. You're a quarter of an hour's walk from the port and Place Garibaldi, ten minutes by tram from the centre, and a step from the trains to Monaco and Menton.
Sillage Immo is based on Rue Arson, in the heart of the neighbourhood. We sell and let here all year round, and we know what a ground-floor flat on the street is worth compared with a top floor over the courtyard, in the same building.
